Health Writing

A health writer creates content about health and medical subjects. Other terms for this type of writers are medical writers, health & medical writers and health communicators.

There are specified qualifications to be a health writer, though many people in this field have writing/communications degrees and/or a degree in the life sciences. I do not have a completed degree. However, I grew up in a household with a parent in the medical profession and heard and learned medical information and knowledge my entire life. I am certified in medical terminology. In addition, I have held medical-related roles, including:

• Executive Assistant supporting two Medical Directors of Managed Care at Kelsey-Seybold in Houston, Texas and PacifiCare.
• Executive Assistant at MedPartners in Mergers and Acquisitions
• National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI), at the time included only NASA and Baylor College of Medicine Space Medicine Program, including a great deal of research that led to doctors on the ground talking through astronauts walking through removing a kidney stone in space, among other research of medical treatments in space
• I worked as a Learning Management System Administrator for Pfizer’s Vaccines group (during COVID) and Astellas Pharma in Research which included a great deal of content in creating pharmaceutical courses in e-learning.
• I have begun studying Naturopathic Medicine

This is the niche I preferred as it is very natural to me and I enjoy this type of research and pulling this information and pieces of these types of puzzles together to create this content and bring information to the public to benefit all. My pet project as been www.naturascripts.com for just this purpose and I have a passion for Naturopathic Medicine.
