About Kathryn and Freelance Work
I have loved writing since I could spell words and I have been excited to use them since I learned to put them together! I had a thesaurus before most kids knew what it was, I played with words in it like a game before an English teacher told my classmates to use one. I haven't had the audacity to draft a novel, but I have selected jobs that I needed to write and even offered to write as an Executive Assistant for not only my executives, but others, as well, from presentations to newsletters and even brochures. I absolutely love to write and I am looking forward to putting this passion to use for you! My passion is to create clear, vibrant images in the reader's mind without needing to provide a visual image.
I am an adaptable technical writer with more than 10 years of experience in proofreading and editing hundreds of 300-plus-page legally binding documents requiring published perfection to the public for multiple municipalities. Additionally, I am flexible as a copywriter, health writer (certified in Medical Terminology) and creative writer with experience in creating, editing and updating legal documents, bond offering documents, manuals, newsletters including photos and images, and brochures. I have collaborated with Trainers to create, edit, research and update Training Manuals per state in all 50 states for training on new software to be used throughout the company. I prepared communications for detailed training preparation and information via emails, pamphlets and job aids. I assembled online and written surveys, presentations for businesses for use in global executive quarterly reports to all employees and for a financial advisory firm presented to the Federal Transit Authority for funding of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) light rail system in Houston, Texas. I have prepared, edited and updated countless Requests for Proposals, Responses to Requests for Proposals and Statements of Qualification, among other marketing tools. One of the Requests for Proposal that was submitted by only me and one other assistant in the investment banking firm won the Proposal and were acknowledged firm-wise by the firm President company-wide. In addition to this administrative work, since working in Training, I also have put together presentations such as eLearning with sound/sound bites, as well as travel and event guides.
My pet project has been NaturaScripts as I write as a Content Creator. NaturaScripts is a website, including a blog with the most detailed information, which is my pet niche - health writing. I enjoy researching and reviewing natural cures and treatments and am presently taking courses in Naturopathic Medicine. I had previously designed and recently re-designed a web/blog site www.naturascripts.com with corresponding LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram pages and Threads, including marketing for natural medicine. If you would like to review my work, please check out my blog pages. My intent and purpose in my blogs are to do enough research to be certain of what I have to say; to give enough information to determine my perspective; and to say what I need to say clearly and concisely.
Prior to my website, everything that I have written is the intellectual property of the companies that I completed the work for. Therefore, I am unable to provide these items in my portfolio. I am in the process of producing pieces that I will be able to include going forward. To clarify the legal documents that I worked on, there is a sample on the Legal Writing page.
